Purchase Guide for Tent Stove – Type and Function

The fun of camping is sitting by the campfire and enjoying delicious coffee, especially In cold weather. But it’s hard for us to have a bonfire in the open air when it rains. Anyone camping in cold weather knows how painful it is to leave the fire. Without fire, people can only climb into cold sleeping bags, but this is not the life we want! Compared with other tents, one of the best things about camping in hot tents is that they can be heated by a firewood stove, so they can bring fire into the tent. No matter how cold the weather is, you can get heat and cook delicious food and coffee.

The selection of tent stove mainly considers three aspects

  1. Price – determined by the material, size, and design of the stove
  2. Sq ft to heat – mainly determines the size of the stove required
  3. Weight – determined by the material, size, and design of the stove

Basic types of camping wood stove

Foldable stove

Foldable stoves are designed to fold up, making them easier to pack. They are made of the same titanium metal, so they weigh less than ordinary tent stoves, but take up less space when folded.

Functions of camping wood stove

1. Toughened glass window tent stove has toughened glass window, which can emit light so that you can monitor the fire from anywhere in the tent. Many stoves on the market have no windows. If you want to buy tent stoves with windows, this is a shop specializing in stoves with glass windows.

2. Refractory brick-lined firebox: many tent stoves have solid integrated welded fireboxes lined with refractory bricks, which are specially designed for wood stove insulation to improve the effectiveness of tent stoves. The refractory brick lining is a poor thermal conductor, which means it retains heat longer than a separate metal firebox. The heat energy from the fire is stored in refractory bricks and radiated throughout the tent, which means you use less wood to get more heat than a typical wood-burning tent stove.

3. Baffle: the built-in baffle forms a barrier between the fire and the top of the firewood stove and reflects the heat into the tempering. The baffle also exposes the smoke to “secondary combustion” before it enters the influenza pipeline system. The additional heat from the baffle leads to more complete combustion, resulting in less smoke, cleaner combustion, and higher efficiency.

Cooking on a tent stove

You can cook on the flat roof of the tent stove. Wood-burning stoves can be used to cook anything you can cook on the stove in the kitchen. Unlike gas or electric stoves at home, there is no knob to quickly adjust the heat output. Getting the right temperature requires some practice or your food may become a disaster.

After you get a good fire that burns evenly and has some glowing hot coal to work with you, you can start cooking. Cook on the hot surface of the pan or place it on the bottom of the pan for quick cooking. Hot spots are usually located in the center or directly above the largest piece of burning wood.

Finally, this is a very important thing. Caution!

When using a wood-burning stove in a tent, be sure to use a carbon monoxide doctor. And keep good ventilation in the tent.
